Poise explores a hybrid approach to color and form, combining a grayscale facial rendering with saturated, expressive color woven through the hair. The profile pose introduces a sense of quiet distance, allowing the structure of the face to hold a clean, uninterrupted line while the chromatic elements build movement around it.

Bold strokes of blue, yellow, red, and green animate the hair, marking a formative stage in my interest in using color to create flow and temperature across the composition. Stylized details around the eyes and lips bring an illustrative quality to the portrait, reflecting a period of experimentation before shifting fully into the chromatic realism that defines Poise stands as a transitional marker—where traditional portrait structure meets the first emergence of a more vivid, expressive palette.
